While anyone these days can purchase a drone and fly, not anyone can fly a drone for the purposes of marketing. This purpose requires a Part 107 unmanned aircraft pilots certificate. Having this certificate requires passing a test through the FAA and requires extensive education and knowledge regarding controlled airspace, weather patterns, and drone operation. In addition to being certified and being able to fly a drone, getting good quality imagery requires a foundation in good photography as well. This is a skill that not all pilots have and requires years of experience in composition, lighting and cinematography. Just because you can fly a drone and get it up in the air, doesn’t mean it will produce compelling imagery, just like some photographers are better than others. In fact getting a good photo from the air requires even more planning than being on the ground, and there are many factors to consider such as time of the day, lighting, weather, and finally congestion in airspace.
