ASAI’s 2016 Conference in Boston

TILTPIXEL is returning from a successful trip to Boston, where we received an Award of Excellence and networked with industry greats at the 2016 conference for the American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI). This year marked ASAI’s 31st Architecture in Perspective (AIP) competition, which showcases the best in architectural visualization – both digital illustration and hand drawing. In addition to a prestigious awards ceremony, ASAI hosted a five-day conference that was jam-packed with seminars, lunch and learns, keynotes, and sketching tours.

ASAI Vice-President (soon to be President) and TILTPIXEL partner, Corey Harper, attended the conference and accepted an award on behalf of TILTPIXEL for The Walsh. A Scandinavian-inspired luxury townhome complex, The Walsh is currently in development in a sought-after neighborhood in Austin, Texas. TILTPIXEL partner, Ramy Hanna, created a series of stunning 3D renderings and received an AIP 31 award for his exterior shot of The Walsh development. www.walsh360.com/

In addition to the Awards Ceremony, Corey had the opportunity to hear from leaders across the arch viz community, including keynote speakers Moshe Safdie and David Manfredi. Rounding out a series of lectures on trends in architectural illustration were expos hosted by V-Ray and TurboSquid, and a round-table discussion hosted by Jeff Mottle of CGarchitect. Urban sketch tours of quintessential Boston landmarks allowed for further networking, and illustrations were later featured in a Silent Auction for conference attendees.

Corey’s participation in AIP 31 paves the way for next year, when ASAI’s conference and awards ceremony will be held in Houston’s Museum District. Corey will transition into the President’s role, and the TILTPIXEL team is eager to host a dynamic, impactful conference next fall. Stay tuned for AIP 32, to be held October 19th – 21st, 2017 in Houston, Texas!
